Geonosian Lab Caves
Dolch had invited me to be a bit social and join his guild for a hunt in the Geonosian Lab Caves. Dolch's Guild is Wikan (wee' kan... and in We Can do it) and all of them speak Spanish. So this will be an interesting evening. I will meet him face to face, meet several of his friends, and learn some Spanish. They were a strange bunch. They are very very close. Their culture enjoys being physically close and touching and hugging and cheek kissing. It was a bit much for me... I kept back during the introductions. Dolch feels I need to learn to be more social, that I am doing too much lone-wolfing.
So, I got buffed by a new girl doctor. I was one of her first customers in her new promotion to master doctor. She was good, if a bit shy. Then Off to Yavin 4 I traveled with the Wikans. We flew to the waypoint Dolch gave to all of us. He was most familiar with this place. It was intense. There were people crying out for help, accidents had trapped people in the gaves with gas leaks and genetic mutations running free and killing people. We ran through there fighting off creatures more dangerous than I had ever encountered.
We even passed a group of training Jedi. They were real rude!! They were their for experience and told us off if we were "in the way". And later when we were really in need of their assistance, they left us to die. AND THEY WERE LIGHT JEDI!!! That was a terrible shock to me. My gods... now I cannot even trust light Jedi, the ones I felt I could trust if all else failed.
Well, Dolch guided us through the complex system of caves and directed to us speak to certain people, and which keys to use where to get past doors and gates. We fought Droidekas (and fast droid that rolls into a ball to roll quickly toward you then open up to open fire on you). We fought genetically modified starving kwi and mutated spider things. AND Force sensitive kliknik. We got to one section of the caves and were overwhelmed by these creatures. The spiders came out in droves of 5 and 8 at a time, there seemed to always be 2-4 kwi even when I was sure we had killed one. And more that 20 force kliknik... who could throw fire balls at you! We were a team of 10 people struggling to survive. We died, one by one... all of us... except one man, Luius, a fighter and a doctor.
Luius.
I have never been so impressed by any living thing before. He stood in that wave of onslaught fighting with such courage, even when the last of us went down. He fought on alone. At tiny moments, he would grab one of us and pull our body to a place with no creatures, then fight on drawing away the danger. He would run back and resurrect us. Then draw away the fight till we felt we could join in. He would heal us between striking creatures. He stood and never fell, not once. He protected our retreat as we were no longer buffed and could no longer even attempted to fight. He fought on even after his buffs ran out and forced him to rely on neutron pixies. We ran past the Jedis with death at our heals (and they did nothing but watch and smirk). Luis was still fighting to protect us. When we finally retreated to the outdoors, one droideka locked onto me and would not let up for nearly 300m into the woods. I could hear on the comm that everyone else was safe with nothing chasing them. They were yelling for me to give my location so they could come help me. I couldn't stop running to figure that out or the damned droideka would kill me within 3 shots. I grew too tired to run. I bolted around a tree. It rolled on at incredible speed... following me. I fell over a root. Face-planted into the ground. My sides ached and screamed. My muscles burned. I could no longer run. It was just over the ridge. It was coming around the tree. I was too out of breath to get up and run more. I was done for!
Then out of no where, Dolch and Luius lept off their swoop bikes and fired on it! Luius gave me a quick heal while Dolch drew the driodeka's attention. Then Luius took over the fight with the droideka and Dolch bolted on his swoop to ensure the safety of the other team members (as he was team leader). Luius told me to call up my bike and GO! He just kept fighting. He saved my life, they both did. I owe them a huge debt.
Dolch felt bad, felt responsible for my safety and was sorry I had not had a successful hunt in the caves, was disappointed that our mission was a failure. But, we all learned things and many enjoyed the thrilling challenge. Luius finally met up with us at the Mining outpost. The team was breaking up and parting ways for the night.
What an intense night. I thanked them all for inviting me and expressed my awe and gratitude to Luius. I think I made him shy. One of the other team members trained me in some scout skills before parting. Finally there was just me and Dolch.
We sat and just breathed as the adrenalin abated and our nerves calmed. He, like Caco, also invited me to move into their city, El Pacto, on Naboo. I went through the same explaination I did with Caco. I was honoured, but no thank you, not at this time. He said that Naboo is beautiful and that I would be welcome to build a temple there. I promised to think about it.
